The Book of Acts in the Bible. The Acts of the Apostles is the fifth book of the New Testament. It was written by Luke to give an account of the history and beginnings of the Church of Jesus Christ and the spreading of the Christian gospel (good news). The Book of Acts does not contain everything that happened in the early church, but focuses on some of the main events surrounding the life of Paul the apostle. The Book of Acts begins at the point when Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives commanding his disciples to go into all the world to preach the gospel, and the book ends with Paul's arrival in Rome when he had appealed unto Caesar, the whole period of time was about 30 years.
